Don’t tweet the actors about fanfiction, fanvids, fanart or shipping.  Don’t tweet the writers about it.  Don’t tweet the producers, directors, or anyone involved in creating the source material about the transformative works.

Don’t tell the actors, musicians, writers, etc.. about the fanfiction when you meet them.  Don’t tweet links of other people’s fanfiction to the actors.

Yes, one of the cool things about Twitter is that the actors are getting more involved in their fandoms now.

But fanfiction is and has always been a sort of gray area that some people get very upset about.  

Please keep the actors/writers/directors/producers, etc separate from the fanfiction. If they go searching for it themselves, that’s fine.  But sending them stuff isn’t cool, and has never been cool.

We occupy a gray space.  If you draw too much attention to us, lights could be shown in places we don’t want them.  I’m talking about fanfiction archives getting shut down, categories getting pulled off fanfic archives, videos getting forcibly taken down, fanartists getting served “cease and desist” letters.  

Also, it gives the fandom a bad name.
